Da-Yeon Kim - Artist
Da-Yeon Kim, is a graduate from Sungshin Women’s University in Seoul, Korea. Her creative mediums include painting, print making, drawing, video and performance. There are strong underlying themes in her work referencing; social conditioning, political issues and the human passage of time from birth until death. Her paintings have an eerie disturbing quality where thought provoking images depict the struggle and fragility of life leaving the viewer feeling unsettled and disconcerted. Her work often reflects a subtle sense of anxiety, or life as a series of traumatic events, in which people lose themselves and become someone or something entirely different.
Kim has broadened her art practice to encompass live action, fortifying her voice and place within the international performance art scene. Her live works condense human exchange and establish a framework where both the artist and spectator can be entirely present during the action.
She has presented performances at: Brooklyn International Performance Art Festival, New York, Gwangju International Performance Art Festival, Korea,
OPEN SPACE “Survival” Festival Berlin, Gallery Stiftelsen 3,14 Bergen, Norway, L´MONO Bilbao, Spain, Platform Vaasa, Finland, Livery Gallery, Marseilles, France.
